Volunteer opportunities
Taking part in our volunteer program will enable you to support unpaid carers in North Somerset and to assist us in delivering our service.
Whether you’ve got minutes, hours, or days, the time you give helps make a huge difference. We ask that volunteers are aged 18+.
You can get involved in lots of different ways, here's some of what you can expect:
Carer companion (befriending)
- Engaging in conversations in person or over the phone to help combat loneliness
- Assist with recreational activities and hobbies at one of our groups sessions
- Accompanying individuals on outings or appointments.
Administrative support volunteers
- Helping with fundraising efforts and community outreach.
Group coordinator volunteers
- Bring your skills and lead or assist one of our support groups sessions
- Provide a safe space for sharing experiences and offering guidance.
About the service
People from all walks of life are carers, providing support to relatives, friends, and neighbours who cannot manage without them.
We offer a range of support and advice to unpaid carers across North Somerset.
You can learn more about the service here.
Why volunteer
Volunteering is a great way to boost your skills, gain valuable work experience and meet new people while supporting your local community and unpaid carers.
How to get involved
If you’re interested in becoming volunteer, you can apply by contacting volunteers@alliancehomes.org.uk or by calling 03000 120 120 to speak to the team directly.
Volunteers will need to attend a short induction and training session provided by Alliance Homes, this usually last around one hour and can be scheduled around your availability.
Volunteers will be provided with ongoing support and training. All travel costs and basic expenses will be covered.
