Alliance Homes recently welcomed students from Gordano School for a week of work experience, giving them the chance to explore the wide range of careers available in the housing sector.
Throughout the week, students spent time with teams across the organisation, including Housing, Development, Community Engagement, Communications, HR, and Home Repairs. They got involved in real projects, from designing communications materials and shadowing home visits, to attending customer meetings and learning how essential landlord services are delivered to residents.
The placements gave students a practical, well-rounded introduction to both the working world and the social housing sector.
One student said:
“I enjoyed meeting new people and learning about the different roles they play in the organisation, and how everyone’s role links up with one another.”
Sue Jones, Careers advisor at Gordano School said:
“The students have really enjoyed their time with Alliance Homes. It’s been a brilliant opportunity to experience the world of work and see how different roles come together to support customers and communities.
“Placements like this help build confidence, skills, and aspirations, and it’s great to see local employers investing in young people. It’s not only valuable for the students, but also for organisations who may be looking to them as future employees.”
Alliance Homes supports local students each year to develop their confidence and understanding of the work environment. Work experience opportunities will open again in 2026 – updates will be posted on this site and shared via our social media channels.
