Housing association Alliance Homes has chosen ‘Somewhere To Go’ as Charity of the Year for 2025, following a vote by colleagues and customers.

Somewhere To Go, a Weston-Super-Mare-based charity, provides practical support to local people facing homelessness, poverty, and social isolation. The charity offers vital services such as hot meals, shower facilities, clean clothing, and advice to help those in crisis rebuild their lives and find stability.

Louise Swain, Chief Executive of Alliance Homes, says: "At Alliance Homes, we know that a safe and secure home is life changing. That’s why we’re committed to building and providing affordable homes across the region. But we also recognise that some people need additional support before they can move into a permanent home. Our colleagues felt strongly about supporting Somewhere To Go this year and we hope to help raise awareness and funds for the vital services they provide."

As part of their fundraising efforts, this summer, Alliance Homes colleagues will take on the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon. This physically demanding event aims to raise awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness and will provide much-needed resources to support the charity’s ongoing work in Weston-Super-Mare.

Ellie Lloyd, Manager at Somewhere To Go, comments:

"We are truly grateful to Alliance Homes for choosing us as their Charity of the Year. Knowing that the decision to support us came directly from their colleagues makes it even more meaningful. Their support will help us continue to provide vital services for those people who need them most."

Throughout 2025, Alliance Homes will organise fundraising events, volunteer opportunities, and awareness campaigns to support Somewhere To Go and help make a difference for people in crisis.
