Pill celebrates art installations with Party

04 Apr 2022

The Residents of Pill and Easton in Gordano enjoyed a ‘Party in the Park’ on the green next to Bank Place and Baltic Precinct with music, picnics and stalls.

The event was staged to celebrate and ‘welcome back’ the local community to village events as well as to say ‘thank you’ to those who’ve helped create art and floral installations in the local area.  These included new murals, bike lock planters as well as a row of painted bollards.

At the event Alliance Homes was thanked for supporting the Precinct Improvement Group to make the installations possible and for helping to realise the ambitions to enhance the local surrounding area and boost the local economy. Funding for the first installation was secured thanks to Alliance Homes’ Micro Grant scheme. The group then went onto to gain more significant investment from the Government and European Union’s ‘Welcome Back fund’.

Michael William, Alliance Homes’ Community Investment manager said: Alliance Homes took a pro-active approach with the community. We completed a joint community audit and identified with the group what place making improvements could be made to our buildings in Baltic Precinct that would then mean the community could add their own touches to make the area more vibrant.

“It’s great to see all the improvements now in place and the local community enjoying themselves. I look forward to helping the community with the next steps in the project!”

Paul Kent, Parish Council leader commented: “This has been a great project for the community and our partners. We’ve been so fortunate that Lucy Byrne has led the way with her enthusiasm and ideas. The planting, murals, and seating have created colour and new places for people to meet and it is starting to feel like spring again.”
