Woodstock Homes and Alliance Homes Bring More Affordable Housing to South Gloucestershire

Tuesday 27 June 2023

Alliance Homes and Woodstock Homes are celebrating a deal to deliver new houses and apartments in Brentry, South Gloucestershire. The scheme will create 29 affordable homes for social rent and shared ownership on Charlton Road, with the first homes expected to be complete in January next year.

The deal is the first of its kind for Woodstock’s new entity, Woodstock Partnerships, which will deliver new housing schemes on behalf of housing associations and other types of investor. Alliance Homes purchased the land with grant funding from Homes England and Woodstock Partnerships will be building the homes.

When complete the homes, which are a mix of one and two bed apartments together with two, three and four bed houses, will be 100% affordable and environmentally friendly, all achieving EPC A with solar panels and air-source heat pumps.

Iain Lock, Director of Investment at Alliance Homes said: ‘We’re really excited to be delivering much needed affordable housing on the Bristol fringes. Woodstock Homes are a trusted development partner, following great experiences on two other sites”.

James Hutchinson, Land Director at Woodstock Partnerships said: “We have really welcomed this opportunity to work with Alliance Homes and develop our partnerships model. It has been a really exciting collaboration and we look forward to continuing this joint working on further schemes coming forward with both Alliance and other housing associations in the area”.

South Gloucestershire Council Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration & Infrastructure, Cllr Chris Willmore, said: “This scheme shows it is possible to deliver a boost to affordable housing by making all the units affordable. Not only that, but it shows affordable can also be low carbon; the air source heat pumps will make these homes cheaper for residents to heat and cut their carbon emissions.

“The scheme embodies so much of our ambition to make sure new homes meet local needs, enhance our communities and deliver a net zero future. The vision shows what is possible and I look forward to seeing the development progress and for it to make a positive impact locally.”
